Grandparents’ Day<\/p>\n
was born from the idea of launching a project that would give recognition to our elders, giving greater prominence to those elders who share care, attention and affection with the little ones.<\/p>\n
As promoters of the green sector we always advocate to make known how beneficial plants are in our lives and in our environment. That is why we offer the suggestion of giving flowers and plants as a gift to grandparents, but with the particularity of involving the grandchildren in the choice of the plant, in its care, in the creation of the dedication, in the delivery of the gift to their grandparents? <\/p>\n
This action aims to make society value all the wisdom, values and emotional richness that grandparents bring to children, and at the same time, bring nature closer to the little ones, teaching them the benefits and virtues that plants bring us, as well as raising awareness about the care of the environment.<\/p>\n
History of Grandparents’ Day<\/p>\n
About 10 years ago, the “Feste dei nonni” was created in Italy. Currently this day is officially recognized throughout Italy, being proclaimed by the Italian Parliament as the Official Grandparents’ Day, in a resolution approved by all political parties.<\/p>\n
The project in Spain<\/p>\n
Grandparents’ Day was created in Spain in 2008 and in its first edition 1,200 children and 600 grandfathers and grandmothers participated in Barcelona and Madrid, who were involved in a floral art workshop. The day was a great success and both grandparents and children experienced the day with great enthusiasm. On this day the children gave a plant to the grandparents as a symbol of growth in a symbolic request: “help me to grow”. It is well known that if we feed a plant well it will grow healthy and strong, in the same way, the affection, values and wisdom of the grandfather can represent a vital and emotional “food” tremendously important in the development of the children. In a complementary way, it could be said that flowers represent grandparents: if we take care of them, they will live longer. Grandparents who know they are loved and useful find more meaning in their lives and it is normal for them to live longer. \n <\/p>\n
